It is a nectarivorous or frugivorous mammal that feeds on nectar from fruits and flowers. It breeds annually from July to October, has a gestation period of 140-150 days following which there is a litter of 1-2 on an average. It has black-and-brown fur, black wings, and long-toed feet with a clawed thumb which enables it to hang upside down.
