Jack and the Owl

Jack-and-the-Owl

Eight-year-old Jack had learnt about stars and planets in school. He was so fascinated with the stars that he started gazing at the night sky before going to bed. At last, his mother tucked him to bed. That night, when Jack was sleeping, he heard a sound which woke him up. As he looked around the room, he saw an owl sitting by the window. “Jack, I know you love the stars. But you may not be able to see them in future,” said the owl. Jack asked in surprise, “Why?” The owl said, “The pollution that humans cause is covering the sky with smog. Soon, the stars will be completely hidden behind smog.” Jack said, “How can we stop this?” “You can tell your friends and relatives to stop polluting the environment. And I will tell more children like you,” said the owl, and he flew away. The next morning, Jack warned everyone about pollution.
