Jawaharlal Nehru

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of our country. He is called the architect of modern India. He not only loved the people of his own nation, but the entire world.
He was born on November 14, 1889 in Allahabad. His father, Motilal was a lawyer and mother was a housewife. Jawaharlal grew up in luxurious surroundings. He completed his primary education at home. For higher education, Jawahar was sent to England. He completed his education in law. After that he returned to India.
Jawaharlal Nehru was highly influenced by Mahatma Gandhi. He started taking active part in freedom movements. He went to jail many times for the sake of his nation. India got freedom on 15 August 1947 and Jawaharlal became the Prime Minister of India.
This great dreamer rendered selfless service for the mankind. He died on May 27, 1964. His birthday is celebrated as Children’s Day throughout the country.
