Jeanne d’Arc is a statue that was built in Paris, in 1874. Jeanne d’Arc is a bronze statue of Joan of Arc riding into battle on her horse. To create the statue the artist took Aimée Girod, a young woman from Joan of Arc’s village, as his muse. While there are many similar statues across the globe, the original one is 400 cm in height and is located in Place des Pyramides, close to where Joan of Arc was wounded in her fatal attempt to take Paris.
Amazing Fact: Not happy with his work, the artist Frémiet is said to have replaced the original statue he made with a new one in 1899, sending the original to Philadelphia.
