Joe idolised superheroes like Superman and Spiderman who always helped people. He longed to be a superhero and often wished that he could do something good for the world. ‘How wonderful it would be if I had superpowers and help people with it,’ he often thought. One day, Joe was playing in the park when he saw a poor puppy drenched in the rainwater. It was shivering in the cold.“Poor thing! He will die if I don’t help him!” he said aloud. Joe went up to the puppy and covered it with his woollen scarf. When the puppy stopped shivering, Joe took him home and gave him some warm milk. When the puppy felt strong, he licked Joe’s hand with gratitude and went away. Joe felt very happy to have helped the puppy. Then, Joe realised that this small act of kindness made a big difference to that puppy which needed help. He was a hero at last!
