Joseph and his family were visiting the zoo, one weekend. They had a lovely time watching the monkeys, bears, tigers and the lions. As Joseph walked on, he saw a couple of lions enjoy their midmorning snack in an enclosure. So, Joseph warned his sister to be quiet and cautious. But when he saw that another boy of about his own age was making loud noises and throwing stones at the lion, he was very shocked. Enraged, Joseph caught the boy by the ear and said, “Don’t you know that we must treat animals kindly? Respect their space. Off you go, you naughty boy. Don’t trouble the mighty lions!” As the boy ran away, Joseph’s father said, “Joseph, I am proud of you. You know that animals need our care and concern.” “Yes, father! All living creatures have the right to live. We must not take advantage of their helplessness,” said Joseph, before moving to the next enclosure.
