Juniper was Farmer Steen’s pet goat. Mrs Steen was very irritated by the way Mr Steen spent so much loving care on Juniper. “Honestly George! You are absolutely silly to love a goat!” she would say. “Better to have a pet dog or even a horse!” Juniper felt very hurt when she heard this. “Why should a dog or a horse be better than a goat?” Juniper wondered. She realised that dogs fetched things and Farmer Steen rode the horse. One morning, Juniper had a great idea. Juniper hitched a small wheelbarrow on her shoulder and put the hens in it. Then she trotted off to the farmhouse. She picked up the newspaper from the doorstep in her mouth and stood outside the kitchen door. When Mrs Steen came to make the tea, she saw Juniper with the hens in the wheelbarrow and the newspaper. She was charmed and gave her a hug!
