One day, an old man knocked at Benjamin’s door. He was a poor farmer who worked hard but earned very little. The old man begged Benjamin for some food. Benjamin was poor but very kind. He went inside and looked for some food. But he only had an apple left in the house. Benjamin gave that apple to the old man even though he was hungry, himself. “I am sorry; I just have this. I hope it satisfies your hunger,” he said. The old man thanked him and gave him a few white stones, saying, “I don’t have anything to pay for this apple. But please keep these stones with you.” Benjamin took the stones, wondering what to do with them. After the old man had left, he kept the stones under his pillow and went to sleep. When he woke up the next day, he found that the stones had turned into precious jewels! Benjamin sold them and became rich again.
