King Chakrapani

King Chakrapani and Queen Ugra ruled Gandali Nagari of Mithila kingdom. They had no children. As suggested by the sages, the king and the queen performed ardent penance and pleased the Sun-god. The Sun-god blessed them with a beautiful child. However, the child was stolen by a maid. While the maid was running away with the child, she toppled over a stone and lost her balance. The child fell into a river. The lord of the sea found the child. The Sea-god thought of returning the child to King Chakrapani. After a few days, the Sea-god disguised himself as a Brahmin and gave the child back to King Chakrapani. The King named him Sindhu, as the Sea-god had brought him back. As days passed, Sindhu grew up to become a handsome boy. He became a disciple of Shukracharya who preached him to worship the Sun-god in order to become powerful. Sindhu performed his penance.
