Dan was very excited. He and his dad were going to fly kites. But just as they stepped outside their house, it started raining madly. Poor Dan was very disappointed. He asked his father, “Why did it have to rain now?” A sad and upset Dan looked out of the window. To cheer him up, Father brought some colours and drawing sheets. He said, “Why don’t you paint pictures while we wait for the rain to stop?” So, Dan started making paintings. First, he painted a mountain, then, a bird. Soon the kitchen was full of Dan’s paintings. The best painting was of a big shining sun. “If only it really was sunny,” sighed Dan. Dad laughed and pointed outside. The sun had come out and the puddles had dried up. Dan was very happy. Together the father and the son hurried to the park to fly their kites.
