Pregnancy in the Chinese culture has many customs surrounding it. Some of them include, placing knives under the bed of a pregnant lady; TsueShen or ‘hastening delivery’, where the pregnant lady’s mother sends her a package of clothes a month before the baby is born. Also, for a successful delivery, the husband is supposed to carry his pregnant wife over burning coal as he enters the house.
