The Konark Sun Temple is a Sun Temple built in Orissa (Odisha), India, in the 13th century. Built by King Narsimhadeva-I, the Konark Sun Temple was built from Khondalite rocks and shaped in the form of a huge chariot with beautifully carved wheels, pillars and pulled by seven horses. The temple is dedicated to the Sun-god, Surya. It was constructed in the traditional Kalinga style of architecture. The entrance faces east so that the first rays of the may sun fall on it.
Amazing Fact: The beautifully carved spokes on the wheels create an accurate sundial and can actually tell the time based on the shadows cast on them.
