Kouprey have tall, but narrow, bodies, long legs and humped backs. They can be either grey, dark brown or black. Their population is feared to have reached near extinction because of hunting for meat and bones, used in traditional medicines. They graze on grass and bamboo, and spend a lot of time near salt licks and water holes.
