Kumbhakarna began to grab monkeys and eat them. Rama aimed arrows at his legs and cut them away. As he tried to creep towards Rama, an arrow shot his head off and Rama killed him. His head fell on houses in Lanka which shook and crumbled. Indrajeet, expert in magic, rode into the battlefield with an illusory Seeta. The vanaras did not know she was real; so when he beheaded her, they were horrified. They told Rama who was shattered by the news. But Vibheeshana told him of Indrajeet’s magical powers and reassured him. Rama’s army fought on with great courage and enthusiasm, but Indrajeet was determined to kill the brothers. He engaged Lakshmana in a single combat. Lakshmana showed no sign of tiring, but Indrajeet was finding it difficult to defend himself. He finally used the Brahmastra on Lakshmana who dropped down, unconscious.
