Landforms

Landform is a geographical feature on the Earth’s surface. There are four major and four minor landforms. Major: mountain, hill, plateau and plain. Minor: butte (single hill), canyon (deep, narrow valley with steep sides), valley (depression in the Earth between hills), and basin (a dip or depression in the surface of the land or ocean floor). Formation of landform is a slow process. It takes a long period of time and sometimes millions of years. Landforms are formed either by movement of tectonic plates or by erosion. Tectonic plates move to form mountains, caves, etc. And erosion by water or wind can create landforms like valleys and canyons.
