Landslide

Landslide is the movement of huge mass of rocks, soil and debris down a slope. This movement is driven by gravitational force or a force that causes two or more parts or layers of the Earth’s surface to slide upon in opposite directions. Landslide can occur in two ways:

Rapid landslide: This event takes only a fraction of seconds to occur. It causes huge loss to human life and other natural resources.

Slower landslide: These are slow-paced landslides that may take several hours, days, weeks or even longer to occur. Some of the main reasons of landslides are gravitational forces, movement of the Earth’s plates, prolonged rainfall, inappropriate drainage system, deep excavations on slopes for construction activities, or mining.
