Once a samurai warrior killed his master. He knew that he would be put to death if he was caught. So he fled and reached a remote village that was separated from the rest of the world by a mountain. The path across the mountain was narrow and treacherous. The warrior decided to cut a road single-handedly through the mountain. He worked hard for four years and penetrated halfway into the mountain. One morning, his master’s son came to him to take revenge. The samurai said that he surely deserved death but asked his master’s son to wait until he had completed the tunnel.
The son agreed. He watched the samurai with his hard work and began to develop a respect for him. He started helping the samurai. Years passed and they finally broke through to the other side. The isolation of the remote village had finally ended. The samurai was ready to die now. He asked his enemy to kill him. The Master’s son said that the samurai was his enemy earlier but now he had learnt much from him in the last few years. So, he could not kill his teacher and went away.
