Leave this Town, Mulla

Leave-this-Town-Mulla

One day, Mulla Nasruddin was called in the court for stealing a watermelon. The judge exclaimed, “You will get a fine for your mistake.” “But you can just use this against all the credits I have accumulated for the times I didn’t steal anything,” said Mulla, making everyone laugh loudly. The mayor, who was also present, said, “Mulla, the people have had enough of your nonsense and have all demanded that you leave immediately!” “But they are wrong for asking me to leave. In fact, I would be far more justified in telling them to leave,” said Mulla. “Why?” the mayor asked. “It’s simply a matter of fairness. It would be unreasonable to expect me to live alone in the middle of nowhere, build a house, and start a farm. The townspeople, on the other hand, can all leave together and easily form another village!” said Mulla, leaving the mayor speechless.
