You will need:
- 2 clear bowls
- 2 hard-boiled eggs with their shells
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrush
- Dark cola
- Small tub
Try this simple experiment to learn how teeth can go bad when not brushed regularly.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Place a hard-boiled egg in each of the two bowls and fill both the glasses with dark Cola.
- Make sure your eggs are completely submerged.
- Leave the first egg submerged in the Cola overnight for at least 24 hours.
- Next day, remove the egg from the Cola and note its colour. It will probably be darker than it was the previous day, even yellowish.
- Leave the second egg in for 2 more days.
- Take some toothpaste on a toothbrush and gently try cleaning up the first yellowish egg.
- After 3 days, remove the second egg and try cleaning it with a toothbrush.
RESULT
Both teeth and egg shells are made of calcium compounds and, hence, the Cola will have the same effect on the egg shells as it would on our teeth. After any meal, a sticky coating of plaque is left behind on our teeth, which turns our clean white teeth yellow. The plaque then slowly eats into the enamel and creates cavities. Regular brushing avoids the build-up of plaque and, hence, cavities and yellow teeth.
