Lijiang

Lijiang is a prefecture-level city with a complete area of 21,219 sq.km. It is located in the Yunnan province, in China. The old town of Lijiang is said to be over a 1,000 years old.

Why it is special: Lijiang was created at the confluence of an old trade route. Its culture is a blend of the Nakhi culture and elements from the Ming Dynasty that had settled there centuries ago. Most of the architecture is still representative of the Nakhi styles of design, suing timber and mud brick housing styles, orderly waterways and bridges.
