Padlocks attached to a bridge have become a custom in Rome, Italy.
Do you know: While this romantic gesture is quite popular among lovers, it has created a controversy and become an environmental hazard.
Highly inspired by a book entitled, ‘I Want You, by Federico Moccia,’ people from far and near come to the Ponte Milvio in Rome and attach a padlock with their names written on it, to the bridge and then throw the key into the river below. The padlock is considered to be a symbol of undying love and commitment for couples all over the world.
