Look before you Leap

That is being advised through this direction is that man should always carefully plan all his future actions. In order to succeed one should keep all perspectives in view; one should consider all the pros & cons of the outcome before taking the decision. Actions should not be taken in haste; major or even minor decisions should be considered and judged from all angles. Just as when we walk on the road we take care of the pits and puddles. We do not drive a car blindly or rashly without caring of the blockades which are there on road; which part of the road is without pits—this is done for the safety of the car as well as for those who are travelling in it. So it is, while hopping one must take care that one does not fall into a shrub, thorny bush or a deep crevice. Move with eyes open—that is what is being advised. You are moving in locality, the surroundings, the environment around; you may duly enquire about the neighbours—their nature and their ways. It is the house in which you have to live—it is the quality of the material used in its construction, the size of rooms and other amenities that you may look into—why the surroundings or the neighbours. But we do it and it is right doing so. Bad neighbours can make life miserable, unhealthy surroundings can be a health hazard. This is going to be a life’s purchase—a house is not purchased every day—you have to take all this care. This is what ‘looking before leaping’ would mean. Even while conversation one must take care of the words that one make use of. A remark or an expression can lead to a great crisis in personal relations. So words, acts, decisions—all need to be weighed well before spoken or done.
Vocabulary
Miserable—unhappy
Hazard—danger
