“Lord Moon is very angry, sir,” said the Old Hare. You have entered his lake and killed the hares. They are the guardians of his lake.” This worried King Elephant, who replied, “It was done by mistake, sir. We are very sorry, but we only wanted to drink water and crushed the hares without intending to! What shall we do now?” The Old Hare said, “You must come to the lake. You will see Lord Moon trembling with rage. There, you must apologise to him and then leave the lake forever!” That night, the Old Hare led King Elephant to the lake. The reflection of the moon shivered on the ripples and King Elephant believed that Lord Moon was trembling with rage. King Elephant apologised and in a while he left the place with his herd. The hares were delighted. The trick had succeeded when strength could not!
