The tenrec has black, with yellow stripes; some of them have quills. It shares an interesting ancestry with the sea cow, the elephant and the aardvark, resembles small hedgehogs, and uses quills to locate family. The tenrec breeds between the months of October and December, with gestation lasting 58 days. They hold the record for delivering the most number of babies in a litter–36!
