One day, Maan bin Zaidah went out hunting animals. In the course of hunting, he got separated from his soldiers and was left alone to do the hunt. He saw a herd of gazelles and slaughtered one to separate the skin from flesh.
As he was cutting the animal, he saw a man from Kzaah approaching him with an ass and a bag on its back. On enquiry, the man said that he was carrying the first crop of cucumber to the Emir Maan (not realizing that he was talking to him) to get at least 1,000 dinars. When Maan mentioned that the price was too much, the man went on reducing it to 30 dinars.
Thereafter, Maan left for the palace and the man also went to the palace to offer the cucumber to the Emir. First, he could not recognize the Emir, but only after the Emir had also bargained the price to thirty dinars from one thousand, the man realized that the person he met in the forest was the Emir himself. Emir made him happy by giving him 2,180 dinars for the cucumber and the ass.
