The larva of a fly, maggots are small whitish-greyish worms that are extremely important to ecology and medicine. They feed on carrion, and garbage and some species are known to attack crops and food items. Maggots are helpful even in forensic science, where they help estimate the time of death of a corpse. However, with flies producing rapidly during summer, there is always a problem of maggots infesting the living tissue of sheep and other farm animals.
