You will need:
- Milk
- Food colours
- Dish
- Dish-washing liquid soap
- Cotton swab
If you add colouring to milk, nothing happens. But when you just add one more ingredient to the milk, you are rewarded with a beautiful swirling milk wheel.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Take enough milk in a
dish so that it may cover
the bottom. - Add drops of food colours into
the milk. Do not stir. The
drops might start mixing;
that’s fine. - Take a cotton swab and dip it into the dish-washing liquid soap.
- Now just immerse the swab into the milk, right in the centre.
- Do not stir.
RESULT
The colours begin to swirl as soon as the dish-washing liquid soap touches the milk. This is because as soon as the detergent touches the milk, it reduces the surface tension of milk, which allows the colours to flow freely. Moreover, the soap reacts to the proteins and fat in the milk.
