This surface dwelling ray-finned fish is golden on the sides and bright blue and green on the back. The male has a protruding forehead whereas the female has a rounded head. It has a compressed body and a single dorsal fin extending from the head to the tail. They feed on flying fish, crabs, squid, mackerels and other forage fish. Their lifespan is 4-5 years.
