Maldon Mud Race

Maldon-Mud-Race

The Maldon Mud Race is a strange racing competition held in Essex, East London.

Do you know: The Maldon mud race first took place in 1973 and the money collected in the race goes to those in need.

Held near a river in a local Promenade park, the mud race requires each participant (who is generally dressed in funny clothes) to race through 200 metres of mud, then run across a river, reach the opposite bank and drink a pint of beer from a barrel placed there and then return to the starting point.
