Maria loved birds. She was excited to see the birds of different colours in the garden. She would be thrilled to see them fly in the air. Maria was visiting her Aunt Jennifer. She was excited about the visit because Aunt Jennifer had seven parakeets. All the seven parakeets were of different colours. Maria thought it would be wonderful to see the beautiful parakeets and play with them. Maria felt sorry for the birds seeing them caged. The birds were sad. They were not singing or chirping. But the free grey sparrow outside the window was chirping to greet the sunny day. “Why must the birds be caged all the time?” Maria asked. “Well, they will fly away if they are not caged,” said her Aunt Jennifer. Maria said, “But if God does not cage us, why do we cage the birds?” “Maria, you are right,” Aunt Jennifer realised. She released the parakeets into the sky.
