One day, a sailor fell overboard from his ship. He clung onto a wooden plank and floated. Soon, he fainted. He was awakened on a moonlit beach and saw a mermaid. The mermaid said, “I am princess melody.” “I am Max,” said the sailor. Princess Melody took him to the kingdom of mermaids. She magically made it possible for him to breathe under water. She took him to the king, her father, who allowed him to stay for a while. Melody and Max met regularly. Max loved being with her, but he had to return home. “Marry me,” he proposed to her. “I cannot leave the water. I can’t walk and my skin burns in the sun,” Melody cried. Max and Melody held each other’s hand. To their amazement, Melody’s tail turned into legs, and she turned into a beautiful woman! They were soon happily married.
