The Minaret of Jam is an ancient brick minaret known for its intricate work. The Minaret is situated in a remote part of the Ghor Province, in western Afghanistan. The inscription with the date on the Minaret is unclear, and it is assumed that the Minaret was built around the 12th century.
Why it is special: The Minaret of Jam is known for it beautiful baked brick work with stucco and glazed tile decoration. Now on the list of World Heritage in Danger, the Minaret is under serious threat of erosion and collapse. The Minaret is believed to be a part of the Friday Mosque of Firozkoh that may have washed away in a lash-flood leaving behind the Minaret.
