Monas

The Monas is a tower that was built in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 1975. The Monas is the abbreviation for Monumen Nasional, which is the National monument of Indonesia. The 132-metre high structure was built to commemorate Indonesia’s struggle for Independence. The tower covered in Italian marble, sits on a square platform, known as the goblet yard and is topped by a gold foil covered flame.

Amazing Fact: The monument is symbolic of the philosophy of Lingga and Yoni, representing harmony, balance, fertility and eternal life.
