The size of the mosquito varies based on its species, but is usually more than 16 mm in length. Its diet is comprised of nectar and various sources of sugar, one of which is blood. The mouthparts of mosquitoes, specifically of females, have been adapted so that they may pierce the skin of their host and suck blood. Females, take in a great deal of blood and then over the next few days digest it and produce eggs. Mosquitos carry viruses and parasites that cause diseases.
