Once, there lived a mother duck with her three duck sons named Tom, Nano and Tinu. Tom was very mischievous and naughty among three and always quarrelled with his brothers. One day, the mother duck told them to wait while she got them something to eat. In her absence, Tom started fighting with brothers. Suddenly, Tom flew into the air and went away. When he returned, the mother duck was very angry and said, “Tom, if you fly too high your feathers will become blue and if you go near the clouds, your bill will become white.” One day again, Tom flew up to the sky. When he came back, Nano and Tino cried out in surprise, “Tom, you’ve become blue and your bill has turned white!” The mother duck came running.
When she saw Tom, she was very upset. Shamefaced, Tom went down to the pond to wash himself. Some duck hunters were near the pond. Hearing strange noises and seeing the weird creature they picked up their belongings and fled in terror. Tom had a hearty laugh. The blue colour never came off Tom’s body but he had learnt his lesson. He never disobeyed his mother.
