Mr Wilkes was a little worried about delivering letters at Snell’s Farm. Farmer Snell had a small terrier named Bundle, who was pretty ferocious! “You’ll have to make friends with him,” advised Mrs Wilkes. “What! Make friends with that holy terror? He’d bite me before I say ‘Hello’!” But Mr Wilkes carried biscuits in his pocket and the next day when Bundle charged at him, he dropped a couple of them! Bundle sniffed suspiciously and then gobbled them. This became a daily routine. After a few days, Bundle arrived at the gate and received Mr Wilkes with great dignity! Mr Wilkes offered him a biscuit and Bundle offered to wag his tail. The next week, he picked the letters from Mr Wilkes hand and carried them into the farm, leading Mr Wilkes! “That dog is so good!” said Farmer Snell. Mr Wilkes and Bundle exchanged looks. Farmer Wilkes didn’t know about the biscuits!
