Mulla Meets Jafar

Mulla-Meets-Jafar

One day, Mulla Nasruddin was passing by a lake when he saw a large crowd by the lakeside. He saw a man drowning in the lake and attempted to save him. Mulla went to the edge of the lake and shouted, “Take my hand and hold it tight.” Within seconds, Mulla pulled the man out. Seeing the man, the crowd started whispering to one another. The man took out an old Thanka and said, “Here is your reward; buy a fine bowl of biryani!” At this, Mulla felt like strangling the ugly man. “Can I get biryani with this petty amount?” he commented and left. A horseman blocked his path and shouted angrily, “Do you realise whom you saved? Your act will make many people homeless! You saved the cruel money-lender, Jafar!” “Oh no! Please forgive me! But I can mend the damage. Some day, I will drown him with the same hands that saved him,” said Mulla, and he sped away on his donkey.
