Mulla’s Neighbour

Mulla's-Neighbour

One day, Mulla Nasruddin saw some ripe oranges in his neighbour’s garden, and wanted to steal one. He took his ladder up to the dividing wall, climbed to the top of it, and pulled the ladder over. As he began climbing down to his neighbour’s side, he suddenly heard his neighbour yelling, “Hey Mulla, what are you doing here!” Mulla calmly replied, “I’m selling ladders.” The neighbour shouted, “Does this look like the place for selling ladders?” Mulla said, “Do you think that there is only one place to sell ladders?” The neighbour screamed, “Get out of here!” Mulla quietly left. The next day, his neighbour asked, “Mulla, can I borrow your clothesline?” Mulla hadn’t forgotten the previous incident. “No, I’m hanging flour on it,” he said. “That’s ridiculous. Who has ever heard of flour being hung on a clothesline?” asked his neighbour. “Only those people to whom I don’t want to lend it to!” said Mulla, and he went inside.
