The ancient archaeological site of Baalbek is a Roman temple located in Lebanon. Its origin is shrouded in mystery. The mysterious stones of Baalbek comprise three 800-tonne stones, known as the Trilithon, that were used to build the west wall of the temple of Jupiter’s complex. It is an enigma as to how and why stones 20 metres high were cut, lifted, moved and perfectly placed on a platform above smaller stones, without any modern technology.
Amazing Fact: Apart from the Trilithon, 2 more stones, (weighing over 1,000 tonnes) were also uncovered 800 metres from the site of the Temple of Jupiter.
