Every night Farmer Casey saw a dark shadow move across the meadow. It puzzled him. ‘I must check what that is,’ he thought, ‘If that’s a wolf or a bear, it’s dangerous for my animals.’ The next night he sat outside with a gun and a torch, watching. There was a full moon that night. The shadow came and began to cross the meadow. Farmer Casey walked softly behind it as it moved. The shadow went to the stream and stopped. Slowly, another shadow came out to meet it. Farmer Casey switched on his torch, shining its beam straight at them. It was Police Constable Bennet and a stranger! “What are you doing?” asked Farmer Casey, “I thought you were a bear or a wolf!” “I’m getting information about the bank robbery from this man!” said Bennet, “Switch off that torch!” The mystery of the shadow and also of the bank robbery was solved!
