One day, David heard about the feast that was given by Nabal, one of the wealthy shepherds there. He then sent his messengers to his place and asked him to spare some food to them, as his men had taken good care of his shepherds and sheeps. Nabal insulted them and refused to give him food, which angered David. One of the Nabal’s men informed this to Abigail, the wife of Nabal and also warned her about the attack. She quickly packed some fresh bread, wine, and meat and left to meet David. While on the way she met him and bowed him and said that her husband was a fool and requested him to accept the gifts that she had brought for them. He was quite impressed with her humility and charm. When Nabal came to know about this, he lost his temper and cursed her. He died later after ten days, and David married Abigail later.
