Nails and the Fence

Once, a master noticed that one of his students often shouted at others in anger. He called the student and said, “Stop being so angry.” The student said, “I try to control it, but I can’t. Please help.” The master instructed the student, “Whenever you feel angry, just take a hammer and a nail and fix it into the fence surrounding the school.” On the first day, the student put in ten nails in the fence. Gradually, the number of nails became lesser as the student learnt to control his anger. One day, the student said, “Master, I haven’t been angry for long now!” The master said, “Now, take out the nails that you put in the fence.” As the student took out the nails from the fence, he noticed that the fence had become ugly with holes. The master said, “See, this is what anger does to your brain and body.”

Moral: Anger destroys a person.
