It is the name given to three waterfalls that sit on an international border. The Niagara Falls are located on the international border of Canada and the United States. The Niagara Falls formed at the end of the last ice age, when glaciers receded at the end of the Wisconsin glaciation.
Why they are special: The Niagara Falls are not very high, but are known more for their width. Three waterfalls, namely Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil waterfall, together make up the Niagara Falls. The Niagara Falls drain Lake Erie into Lake Ontario on River Niagara. These Falls are known the world over for their beauty and as a hydroelectric power source.
