Oak Island Money Pit

This so-called Money Pit off the shores of Nova Scotia, along Canada’s Atlantic coast is one of the most incredible self-perpetuating treasure hunts in the world. Among the biggest discoveries were a set of stone inscriptions found 90 ft below the earth. Symbols on the stones were translated as ‘Forty feet below lie two million pounds’. Even more promising was the alleged discovery of a few gold pieces. The treasure hunt has been on for two centuries. In 2010, the government passed the Oak Island Act, banning all commercial treasure hunting on the island. In 2011, the Minister of Natural Resources lifted the ban.
