Oconaluftee

Oconaluftee

Oconaluftee is a river valley located in the Great Smokey Mountains, in North Carolina, U.S.A. It was known primarily for the Mingus Mill, which was built in 1886 but was closed down during World War II, only to reopen in 1968. The Cherokees consider the waters of the Oconaluftee sacred. Rolling hills, valleys and the Great Smokey Mountains National Park all come together to create this beautiful valley of which a large area is listed on the National Register of Historical Places.
