Hatim, on his way to the red desert, crossed many mountains and deserts and finally came to a place beyond which no humans lived. The land beyond this point was black, and the sky too was black. It was the abode of black serpents. Carrying the magical staff that the genie had gifted him, Hatim walked fearlessly without being affected by the poison. Crossing the black land, he came to the white land. Here resided deadly white serpents. They too could not harm him as he was carrying the magical staff. At the border of the white land stood the green land. Everything there was of emerald colour. The land, the sky, the water and the serpents–all were green. Crossing these lands, filled with poisonous snakes and without food and water, Hatim could see the land with a red hue. He walked and walked till he finally reached the red desert.
