Orfy sat on a beam in the barn and seemed to sleep most of the day. He was a barn owl and went out hunting at night. “We wonder what he does all night and what he eats?” told the other animals and birds, “All he does is sleep!” But one day, Orfy came back in a terrible state. He looked very worried. “What happened, Orfy?” asked Blower, the cock, who was awake early. “It’s a secret!” whispered Orfy, “But if you promise not to tell anyone, I’ll share it with you!” He told Blower that Farmer Beeler was planning to sell six little kids of a goat! “I heard him when I went into the kitchen!” said Orfy. This was terrible news! Podgy, the goat, would be heart-broken! Blower promptly fluttered out and warned Podgy. She vanished from the farm with her kids for many days! And her kids were safe till they grew up!
