Outside the Door

Miss Jasper was very strict in her dance class. If she found anyone playing the fool or simply unable to dance, she would say, “Outside the door!” And the student would stand patiently outside till the class was over, feeling terribly ashamed! Princess Sylvia had been sent to the class to learn to be graceful. Sylvia was so clumsy that she fell over the furniture, upset the crockery on the table, and even tore her dresses! It was not surprising that Miss Jasper told her, “Outside the door!” But Sylvia discovered that the library was next door! She loved books. While Miss Jasper was busy, Sylvia quietly slipped into the library. She enjoyed the time spent ‘outside the door’! That year, Princess Sylvia got the best marks in her studies. When someone asked her how she did so well, she smiled, “By standing outside the door!”
