Oysters are immobile molluscs found clinging to shipwrecks, debris and harbour walls. They are divided into four groups: true oysters that are consumed by humans, pearl oysters that produce pearls, thorny oysters and saddle oysters having very thin shells. They open to breathe and feed on plankton. Eggs are released into the water where they are fertilized. Lifespan is 1-3 years.
