Packed Food

Nowadays we do not feel panic due to unavailability of our favourite food at any distant places because we have the option in hand i.e. packed food option. It was invented and commercialized by Clarence Birdseye.

In 1923, he invented method of freezing food fast and saving such in packed forms. Later in 1929, he sold his method to be patented by the Goldman-Sachs Trading Corporation and the Postum Company (later the General Foods Corporation) for $22 million. 1930 was the year when the first time in Springfield, Massachusetts, packed quick frozen vegetables, meats, etc. were sold to general public under the trade name of Birds Eye Frosted Foods®. For such great invention we must thank Birds Eye but we cannot ignore such experiments and great efforts of persons like Enoch Piper, Daniel E. Somes, William Davis, etc. to develop techniques to keep fresh the food always.
